Language

Language involves how we use words and sentences to get messages in and out.

To get a message out we can use words/sentences for talking or writing.

To get messages in for us to understand we need to be able to recognise the words/sentences that others use when they talk to us. We also need to understand written words and sentences.

Some people, after a stroke, have language difficulties affecting the ability to get spoken or written message in or out of the brain. This disorder is called aphasia (pronounced a-fay-zee-a).
