Emotional effects

A sudden change in the ability to communicate may have a devastating effect on the person. After a stroke communication is especially important, example, asking questions, taking in information, conveying fears and anxieties.

Try to be patient and work with the SLT (Speech and Language Therapist) on how best to help communication. What works for one person may not be helpful for someone else, as people have different strengths and needs.
