Heart Disease

Certain heart conditions (e.g. atrial fibrillation, valve dysfunction, congenital conditions) may make you more likely to form clots which can travel to the brain. Your doctor will best advise you on appropriate management.

Coronary Artery Disease and stroke share many of the same modifiable risk factors (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, excessive alcohol intake, obesity, lack of exercise), addressing these should reduce the risk of having a stroke.
